The Digital STEAM Journey

My four years at Immaculata La Salle have been a transformative exploration of the intersection between technology and creative expression. The digital STEAM program provided a rigorous framework where traditional artistry met cutting-edge innovation. From early sketches to complex multi-media projects, this portfolio reflects a journey of intentional growth, technical mastery, and the unwavering pursuit of a unique digital voice as I transition to my next chapter in higher education. I believe that digital art is not just about the tools we use, but how we use them to tell stories that resonate across dimensions, preparing me for a career that bridges aesthetics and functionality with purpose.

Creative Resume

Highlighting four years of curated growth within the digital STEAM program at Immaculata La Salle. My resume details a journey of artistic evolution, technical mastery in digital design, and creative leadership, establishing a solid foundation for future academic and professional endeavors.

Creating My Own Lens

It’s 3:15 a.m., and my face glows with the bright blue light of my MacBook. My AirPods are on, my phone is on Do Not Disturb, and the only sound in the room is the click of my spacebar as I replay the same ten second clip over and over again. I’m reediting a short documentary film finished a while back, trying to get one cut to land perfectly on the beat of the music. No one else might notice it but I will, I’ll know it’s there. For me, filmmaking is about perfecting the little details that make something not only feel alive but become alive.

Enrichment Activities

Miami-Heat-logo.png
STEAM Field Trip

During our STEAM field trip, we visited the Miami Heat studio and got an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at how their videos and broadcasts are produced. We learned about the different roles involved in production and had the opportunity to speak one-on-one with the creative team. This experience helped us better understand the media industry and explore potential career paths.

I really enjoyed this trip because it gave me a clearer picture of what I want to do in the future. Seeing the creative process up close reassured me that I chose the right major for college. Seeing everyone work in their cubby made me want to do the same so bad, and the big screens just amazed me. It was inspiring to hear directly from professionals and learn how they got to where they are today.

A4L Film Internship

Through the Arts4Learning internship program, I participated in the film section, where I studied under film expert Neil de Flor. During this program, I worked alongside other creative students and learned about different aspects of filmmaking, including storytelling, production, and collaboration. The experience provided hands-on opportunities to develop my creative and technical skills.

I genuinely loved this experience. Not only did I learn a lot, but I was also able to fully express my creativity. I enjoyed the writing prompts and assignments, and I really got hands-on experience with filming. Working with Neil de Flor and other students helped me grow creatively and gain confidence in my abilities.

FSPA Convention

At the FSPA Convention in Orlando, hosted in part by STN, I participated in a variety of competitions and workshops focused on media fields such as writing, yearbook, film, broadcast, and short films. The event brought together students from different schools, allowing us to showcase our skills, collaborate, and learn from one another in a fast-paced, creative environment.

I also loved this experience because it pushed me out of my comfort zone. I had the chance to ask a lot of questions and meet new people, which helped me grow more confident. The challenges encouraged me to be more flexible with assignments and manage my time better so I could complete everything on time. Overall, it was a fun and rewarding experience that helped me improve both creatively and personally.

Four Years of Evolution

 Freshman Year

Freshman Year • Disappearance
Freshman Year • The Howl

I used effects, color overlay, color fill, levels, text, masking, group folders

Double exposure, I used the mask, crop, and move tool, blending mode was overlay, and increased exposure

In Disappearance, I focused on conveying a sense of fading identity and vulnerability. By using masking, color overlays, and texture effects, I created a cracked and dissolving effect across the subject's face. This project taught me how layering and blending techniques can transform a simple image into something more symbolic and emotional. I learned how important subtle details like color tone and texture are in setting the mood of a piece.

In The Howl, I experimented with double exposure and blending modes to combine multiple images into a single composition. I wanted to create a surreal and powerful scene that connects nature and emotion, using the wolf, waterfall, and moon to symbolize strength and mystery. This project helped me better understand composition and how to merge images seamlessly while keeping a clear focal point.

 Sophomore Year

Sophomore  Year • Weather News Report
Sophomore Year • Food Is Fuel PSA

I did a weather report on our student television program called Ltv. Here I used a camera, a tripod, a teleprompter, and a microphone.

I did a PSA about a nonprofit organization called Food is Fuel. They promote awareness of eating disorders and body health. I used a camera, a tripod, a microphone, and some props.

In the Weather News Report, I learned the fundamentals of broadcasting and production. Using equipment like a camera, tripod, microphone, and teleprompter, I practiced delivering information clearly and confidently on screen. This project taught me the importance of planning, scripting, and presentation skills, as well as how to work with technical tools to create a professional-looking segment.

For the Food Is Fuel PSA, I focused on creating a meaningful message about mental health and awareness. This project challenged me to think more deeply about how the media can influence people and communicate important issues. I used similar equipment but placed more emphasis on storytelling, visuals, and audience impact. I also learned how to organize scenes and use props effectively to support the message.

Junior Year • FSPA Vertical Man On The Street

The Bay is a student reminder show created for the students at La Salle. In each episode, I filmed out by the bay during class and shared important updates about what’s happening around campus, including events, reminders, and announcements.

A group of up to two students will create a max 1:30 vertical man on the street, filmed and edited entirely on a phone, based on the following prompt: Interview convention-goers about this common icebreaker question - With the start of baseball season upon us, what would their "walkup/intro" song be. You can't use the music... but they can sing it!

The Bay was a consistent, real-world media project where I created a student reminder show for the La Salle community. This experience helped me strengthen my time management and efficiency, since I filmed, edited, and published each episode on the same day. I became more confident on camera and improved my ability to speak clearly and engage an audience. Additionally, I developed stronger editing skills by working under time pressure while still maintaining quality.

In the FSPA Vertical Man on the Street project, we interviewed people using a fun, engaging prompt and captured spontaneous responses to create an entertaining and relatable final product. This project helped me adapt to a faster-paced and more flexible style of filming. I learned how to frame shots vertically, work with natural lighting and sound, and engage with people in a public setting. It also improved my ability to think creatively on the spot and communicate effectively with interviewees.

Food Safari is a weekly student interview segment where seniors share their stories while enjoying their favorite meals in a relaxed, mukbang-style format.

In Episode 2 of Food Safari, I worked with Jay and David on a blindfolded “Chicken Nugget Mania” challenge where they had to guess which nuggets came from Burger King, Wendy’s, Chick-fil-A, and McDonald’s. The blindfold added a fun and unpredictable element, making their reactions more genuine and entertaining. This episode helped me improve my ability to film and manage a more interactive, fast-paced format. I also focused on editing the best moments to keep the video engaging. Overall, it showed my growth in creativity and how adding challenges can make content more dynamic and enjoyable.

In Episode 6 of Food Safari, I featured Martin, Peter, Jay, and Miguel as they ate açaí bowls from Ernie’s Açaí Bowls while answering questions about school. This episode was more challenging because I had to manage multiple people on camera at once, which made it harder to balance audio, framing, and keeping everyone involved in the conversation. Through this experience, I improved my ability to organize group discussions and capture different personalities without losing focus. I also had to be more intentional during editing to make sure the video flowed well and each person had their moment.

Evolution & Growth

01 / Freshman Year

The digital canvas was entirely new to me. Entering the STEAM program at Immaculata La Salle opened doors to tools and software I never imagined. My early work was about exploration—learning the basics of color and form, and understanding the precision required in a digital environment. Learning how to use Photoshop to create cool and inspiring projects. It was the foundation of everything that followed.

02 / Sophomore Year

Sophomore year marked a significant shift toward narrative. I began to realize that digital art isn't just about photo editing; it's about storytelling and TV production. I started experimenting with contemporary retro styles, modular color-blocking, and bold geometry. This was where my personal artistic voice began to emerge from the technical exercises. I started to create more meaningful videos and fun segments.

03 / Junior Year

A year of experimentation and pushing boundaries. I delved into complex digital landscapes and high-fidelity textures. The fusion of art and technology became seamless. I led several group projects, acting as the primary digital designer, which taught me how to articulate my vision and integrate feedback while maintaining artistic integrity. I also learned how to be a media manager, and it was a whole new ball park, trying to stay on task in a fast-paced schedule. I began to start producing my own show aswell.

04 / Senior Year

As a senior now, I've been given the chance to air my own show. I decided to start the show, Food Safari. Food Safari is a weekly student interview segment where seniors share their stories while enjoying their favorite meals in a relaxed, mukbang-style format. Now, as I finalize my portfolio for college, I see a complete artistic evolution. My work has transitioned from simple digital sketches to sophisticated, brand-aware digital art. This journey has given me a voice that is vibrant, elegant, and uniquely mine—fully prepared for the next chapter in creative education.

End of STEAM Journey

The end of my journey in digital arts marks not just a conclusion, but a transformation. What began as curiosity gradually evolved into a deeper understanding of creativity, technology, and self-expression. Along the way, I learned to experiment, make mistakes, and refine my vision through persistence and imagination. Each project challenged me to think differently and pushed me beyond my comfort zone, shaping both my technical skills and artistic voice. As this chapter closes, I carry forward not only the knowledge I’ve gained but also the passion to keep creating, exploring, and growing in the ever-evolving world of digital art.

Art is the blueprint for the technology of tomorrow.
